WHO IS SUGAR GIRL?
Sugar Girl is a small, local, family run baking company owned by husband and
wife Bill and Marin Turner. Marin is the Baker/"Head of
Creativity" and Bill is the "Chief Tasting Officer". We have a
true passion for all things sweet and we love to share that with our
customers. We have been in business for the past 18 months operating out of
the corner of a very cramped local restaurant kitchen in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Now we have a place to call our very own.
There is joy in presenting people with food that makes them smile and when it
comes to dessert, those smiles are amplified. As a baker, I have
always craved bold flavors with amazing textures and love food that takes
us in new directions. Most of all, we believe that “yummy” is not just an
adjective, it’s a feeling and that is how we want people to feel when they bite
into a Sugar Girl creation. Whether its bringing you back to a childhood memory
or taking your taste buds someplace they’ve never been, we are glad to take you
there. We are a small company and we source local, fresh ingredients
whenever possible. This allows us to bring seasonality to our treats and really
have fun with our flavors. Some of our most popular items include the Bacon me
Crazy: maple buttercream sandwiched between two giant bacon chocolate
chip cookies, the Captain Picard: an eclair with earl grey infused pastry cream
and topped with an orange chocolate ganache, and the Up in Smoke: a rich dark
chocolate brownie with a pretzel graham cracker crust and topped with caramel
and applewood smoked sea salt. On top of all this, we have over 465 flavors of
cupcake that have been developed in our tiny test kitchen. We even have a
special super fantastic Vegan line of baked goods.
And Sugar Girl always offers a 10% discount to military and service
personnel.
OUR GOAL?
To raise $4000 to purchase much needed equipment and finish renovations in
our new home. We will be serving a variety of treats from our kitchen including
cupcakes, cookies, cheesecakes, brownies, fair trade organic coffee, boba tea,
and more!
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE USED?
If our project is funded, we will be able to purchase the remaining equipment
necessary to make our dream come true as well as finish the bit of pluming
that needs to be changed and add some new counters. We will post
pictures of our progress online so that all of our backers can see our kitchen
take shape. In addition to bringing our vision of sweetness to the people,
we're really interested in building a small business that can help build a
stronger community. Our long term plans include an internship each year for 1-2
high school students from the area that are interested in baking or want
hands-on experience in how a small business is run.
We are offering some wonderful incentives! Everything from our amazing
cupcakes, limited addition t-shirts, to a special order worth up to $500. But
truly best of all, besides a place in our hearts forever, all backers of Sugar
Girl will have their name added to a plaque and placed on the wall in the
bake shop for all to see their kindness.
We are aware that not everyone can donate money, but there are still ways
that you can help:
Step one: Tell everyone. Your mom, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, neighbor's
cousin's roommate's first grade teacher. Just get the word out!
Step two: Make the trip over to our facebook page and "Like" us. https://www.facebook.com/SGCIdaho and then
refer back to step one!
That's it! Thank you for reading our proposal and thank you in
advance for your support!!
